language, make the sex scenes a bitkinky cough, cough period sex cough, cough , and ramp up the angst some people might believe it s brand spanking pun intended new The romance suspense by Linda Howard Now You See Her was written 10 years ago, and features a remarkably handsome gazillionaire Richard Worth obsessively falling for the innocent, mousy but sexy heroine Paris Sweeney Kabam I am talking HOT connection, insta lust, and quivering body parts Richard is well endowed, bedroom savvy, and only has eyes for his heroine Sound familiar Richard is separated from a cheating wife, and mourning the loss of their unborn child An ex Army Ranger, he is not a man to mess with The divorce proceedings suddenly get complicated quickly when he wants to fuck his word Sweeney NOW He is obsessed with having her And she wants him too But not until he is a single man who can offer her.Sweeney has a special gift she can see ghosts After meeting Richard her paranormal gift manifests into her sleep walking and painting murder scenes of actual murders Turns out Richard s soon to be ex is pissing all kinds of people off, and surprise, surprise NOT ends up murdered And Sweeney has been slowly painting the death scene over the last several nights Now someone wants to kill her But not if Richard can help it He will protect his woman at all costs.I won t tell youof the plot, but I can say the Fifty storyline is nothing new folks There are of course a lot plot differences as well, but many of the main plot points are strikingly similar And since many books with less similarities are being compared, I think we also can also throw this one on that huge pile While Richard didn t want to hurt Sweeney for his own pleasures, and there isn t any period sex thank GOD , it is hardly the first romance book to feature an obsessive and horny hot billionaire stalking pursuing a sexy but mousy heroine who will resist him until it drives him mad with want Just saying, that s all Your mileage may vary While this isn t my favorite Linda Howard book, it is a solid romance suspense classic Several months ago I picked this up at an Audible sale knowing that it s hard to go wrong with a book by Linda Howard and I was right 9 1 2 listening hours well spent This one is coming in at between 3 and 4 stars There was something missing and I don t know what Honey, you don t have any idea were few and far between He had a sneaking idea she had no clue how appealing she was, with her big blue eyes and curly mass of hair I think maybe because the last few Linda Howard books I read were so good that my expectations were way too high Still, an enjoyable read Foreplay with Sweeney waserotic than any full sex act he had ever experienced He took her with powerful thrusts that made her entire body shudder under the impact Great read a very dramatic storyline that had little romance and mysterywell written paperback Written March 23, 2015 3 1 2 Stars Sweet Smexy Simple SuspenseWell, good enough Manhattan, New York City, U.S.Paris Sweeney, or just Sweeney as she prefers, is a talented painter in her early thirties Sweeney like to love alone, and don t want any relationship, her artwork is her main interest More or less her only interest Our heroine has by now achieved some sucess and her popular paintings sells at an exclusive New York City gallery owned by her friend, Candra Worth Candra is in the middle of an ugly divorce from the handsome millionaire Richard Worth A man who see something he likes and from now on has a very intense good eye for a special shy brown haired female artist As this isn t enough for a romance plot has Sweeney also a strange new ability she sees odd things Traffic lights turn green when she approaches, her plants are in full bloom out of season and she could be a master winner in any quiz show on TV Then one morning is there a big new painting in Sweeney s art studio Unquestionably a painting done by her A painting she must have done in her sleep last night Or It is a dark scene with a dead man lying on the ground A man she knows A man she cared for The audiobook edition and the narratorI listened to this quite new 9 30 hrs unabridged audiobook edition narrated by Laurel Lefkow I think Ms Lefkow did a good enough job I don t love her style always, she can be too sweet and a little too cute with a very gentle voice, but she is a professional narrator and has a good feeling for the scenes in her reading I usually like Ms Howard s well written stories but this suspense romance from 1998 felt a bit outdated I m actually not sure why I liked the smexy steam hot, hot We get two interesting characters and a lot of sweet moments, but I never fully took this couple to my heart as much as I wished I should Was the hero too strong and hard Or was the heroine too scared and needy drooling in love in the hero too soon Were the others villains just too silly clueless combined with some dumb plans Maybe was it in the end just too light and simple The romance part fell in placeor less immediately and the crime plot was in a way resolved to easy for my old crime fiction heart and taste view spoiler Those last scenesreally Should a hard bright homicide NY cop really belive their odd paranormal story so easy hide spoiler Too high expectations Or just me There wasn t any huge happy dancing wow moments I hoped for a strong four raiting but ended with an honorable basic three star No deductions but not much extra points neither BUTIt is always fun to visit New York again This grumpy old lady shall now immediately go to bed Did I forget to say that I actually liked this book Not bad but not great.I LIKE stories located in NYC Surprise surprise Loved it Overall rating 4.5 Sweetie stars Triggers Intimate pasts view spoiler First let me explain this about the Richard and Sweeney Richard was married to this stupid whore for 10 years He found out during their marriage that his wife was cheating on him, but he tried to make their marriage work He felt his vows meant something He eventually grew out of love for her and grew to dislike her tremendously He did choose to stay married to her and did continue to have sex with her but only using a condom because he still knew about her continue affairs They get into a huge fight about 10 years married and the hero decides he just can t let that slide so he kicks her out and immediately divorces her view spoiler He finds out that a condom broke one night while having sex and it resulted in a pregnancy that she secretly aborted hide spoiler view spoiler At the start of the book, the heroine just moved to town right at the same time the hero filed for divorce from his ex They have been separated for a year and she is giving him trouble with the divorce settlement It is confirmed that he has not been with ANYONE AT ALL since his marriage to his ex Period Especially during the separation he still feels like he is legally married so it never felt right AND he never found a woman who made him even want to So on to intimate pasts Richard hero Married before and has been celibate for over a year Sweeney heroine I don t really know how long it s been for her, but Sweeney is a rare breed She is very artsy and even says that for awhile she saw men as merely being asexual beings She did meet the hero a few times in the past while he was still married not long conversations by any means His ex was her art dealer , but even the hero mentions how she never NOTICED him like he noticed her Not until he saw her again after this time, he finally realizes that she is actually seeing him and he doesn t want to let her go He knows he would have something really special with Sweeney She is an awesome heroine and a wonderful person hide spoiler hide spoiler Push pull view spoiler Nope The heroine is a tad resistant in the beginning, but that makes the hero want herbecause he wouldn t have disgraced their relationship anyway by having sex with her while he was still technically married, but the fact that she felt the same way was refreshing to him hide spoiler OW OM drama view spoiler The hero s ex DOES try to cause some drama, but mostly because she wantedout of the settlement and she was willing to use the heroine to get it of course, it never came to that Later on, she does been to regret everything she did to the hero and how she f cked up beyond repair hide spoiler HEA view spoiler Yes, but I would have LOVEDof an epilogue hide spoiler My review I just loved this book The hero was obsessed with the heroine after seeing her again and finally realizing that the looks he had been giving her were finally evident in her as well The fact that Sweeney could see ghosts and was a little clairvoyant was also a nice change I loved how this couple stayed strong despite things going on in their lives including tragedy I loved how Richard accepted Sweeney the way she was and didn t once doubt her Such a pleasant read I can t wait to readby this author Very interesting read Sweeney is an artist who has recently gained some psychic abilities through her art, as well as some other perks Richard is a former Army Ranger turned billionaire who is at the end of a nasty divorce to a woman who has a small moral compass All three combined along with some interesting side characters made this a pretty exciting read. With the scintillating sensuality and high voltage thrills that distinguish all of her blockbusters of romantic suspense, Linda Howard grips the imagination and touches the heart as only she can, in her sixth dazzling New York Times bestsellerA talented painter in her early thirties, Paris Sweeney has achieved enviable success her work sells at an exclusive New York City gallery, and her popularity is at an all time high Life is good, and Sweeney, as she prefers to be called, is contentBut lately, Sweeney s dreams lush, vivid, and drenched in vibrant hues seem to echo a growing restlessness that has taken hold of her Suddenly, impulsively, Sweeney falls into a night of intense passion with millionaire Richard Worth Now, the true dangers of her all consuming urges are about to be revealed where Sweeney least expects it in her paintingsAfter a creative frenzy she can barely recall, Sweeney discovers she has rendered a disturbing image a graphic murder scene Against her better instincts, she returns to the canvas time and again, filling out each chilling detail piece by piece But when a shattering, real life murder mirrors her creation, Sweeney falls under suspicion With every stroke of her brush, she risks incriminating herself with her inexplicable knowledge of a deadly crime And every desire including her hunger for Richard is loaded with uncertainty as Sweeney races to unmask a killer Classic Linda Howard I love this bookParis Sweeney who prefers to go by Sweeney is a talented painter, who is pretty content with her life in New York Although things has been a little weird in the last year, with her dreams becoming so vivid and colourful it seems real and her sudden attraction to Richard Worth is also completely out of character for herAnd when was a heady sensation, to know that he cared for her, that she was important to him Sweeney couldn t remember ever being important to anyone beforeI love Sweeney and her social awkwardness, how she doesn t like crowds and social niceties It was also so cute how scatter brained she could get when involved with her painting The fact that men were barely a blip on her radar before and her confusion about her sudden need for Richard was also very funnyShe made him grin Hell, she made him laugh He had the feeling he could spend every day with her for twenty years and not know all of her quirks or exactly how her mind worked Richard was amazing and I loved how he was with Sweeney, how he s always been attracted to her but she never noticed until now And he wasted no time whatsoever in making his move, determined to make her hisHe wanted her In bed, out of bed, it didn t matter If he couldn t coax her into a relationship so he could seduce her, then he would have to seduce her in order to coax her into a relationshipIn typical Linda Howard fashion the romance was scorching and I loved them together, how he cared for her and tried to look out for herThe suspense was excellent and very gripping with Sweeney painting pieces of the murder scene before it even happened and not knowing who was going to be killed and by whom I loved the paranormal element of it and how it just
