burnin love, that I fell into lust with straight away A man of relatively few words but boy did those words count sigh He was dreamy If only men like that really existed I would claw, scratch bite my way through any woman that got in my way Abbie was also another one of Cindy Gerard s perfect heroines, that deserved the attention of such a great man She was strong, loyal and a joy to fall in love with Their story was action packed, not only in the bullets and bad guys department, but also between the sheets TOTALLY YUMMILIFIC.Cindy also has the best ability of making you NEED to read the next book in the series straight away I am trying to savor these books gawd damn it but I can t help devouring Sam Lang s been tracking Fredrick Nader for a long time and believes he s minutes from personal and tragic blow Sam leaves Black Ops, Inc and returns to his family home in Las Vegas When he s given another opportunity to bring down Nader, Sam signs on and develops a relationship with unsuspecting Abbie Hughes, a casino dealer whose brother is the connection I have to admit that I put Sam in anti hero status for awhile because of the lengths of his subterfuge Abbie is a pretty special woman who reacted in all the right ways throughout the story and she ranks as one of my favorite heroines Though she exhibited a lot of moxie and courage, she never crossed into that TSTL too stupid to live zone Sam dug himself out of the hole he created rather admirably, though, and I loved how their relationship developed Be prepared for a really suspenseful ride as Nader is cagey and ruthless, taking no prisoners Sam and the BOI have their hands full with this one and not much is predictable I enjoyed everything about this story and especially liked that epilogue I loved it and I just breezed right through it I forgot how happy a good, romantic suspense by Cindy Gerard could make me feel There was just enough steamy romance between the H h to go along with the easy to follow, feel There was just enough steamy romance between the H h to go along with the easy to follow, gripping, gem smuggling suspense plot taking place in the steamy Honduran backcountry I enjoyed the relationship between the quiet, somewhat tortured hero, 35 year old former Black Ops, Inc a covert, private security team hunk and now rancher Sam Lang, and the smart, brave, and loyal to a fault heroine, 27 year old Las Vegas casino dealer student Abbie Hughes No rehashing of the plot here, other than to say it was a chance for Sam to deal with a long time thorn in his side enemy who really, really did him and his family wrong while helping Abbie rescue her missing always making the wrong choices kid brother from this slimy terrorist bad guy A nice amount of background info on the characters made me feel as if I really knew them and knew their motivations for their actions, so there were no WTH moments for me I also enjoyed Sam s relationship and camaraderie with the other members of his Black Ops family Savage, Doc, Reed, and Mendoza and Abbie s relationship with best friend Crystal, and can t wait to follow up on their individual stories.Kudos to the author for making me fall hard for the character of Sam after he did something un hero like to the heroine to get info from her near the beginning of the story I understand why he did it but I just didn t enjoy seeing the heroine who was the kind of person you could imagine as being your friend get hurt And kudos to the character of Abbie for being a forgiving kind of person who doesn t whine or carry a grudge, otherwise she never would have had her hot, steamy moments in the Honduran waters with the apologetic, quiet but sexy Sam Loved these two together After the tense but exciting conclusion, where Abbie, Sam, and his teammates take down the bad guys, I felt that the rest of the story was a bit rushed I sure would have liked to readof the relationship between Abbie and Sam that obviously developed between the time they got back from the mission and the time of the epilogue, but which was largely just summed up A couple of pages of details would have been nice But that s just a minor complaint, because I sure did enjoy the epilogue where we got to revisit the characters of Gabe and Jenna from Show No Mercy as well as watch Sam and his family Doc, Savage, Reed, and Mendoza get together again. All in all a great romantic suspense served up with some exciting, action hero moments, smart characters who you ll want to see fall in love with each other, and a nice HEA wrapped up in a fitting epilogue I couldn t ask for much4 1 2 stars Sam Lang left his Black Ops Inc team when his sister was murdered by Frederick Nader, a well known drug runner and criminal fighting for territory
